This is a charming place. When you enter, there are several small dining tables in the shape of an L, outlining a large wooden bar affront a chalk board with the specials of the evening and the text, "Yes, the music is loud. That's the way we like it. - Chef Greg". Chef Greg is the gregarious, bearded, bandana sporting chef that is toiling over your food with a furious expression on his face in the kitchen at the end of the bar. He almost looks like he's willing the food to be good with his mind. Watch him... you'll see. Anyway... We sit down... decent wine list. We ordered a Willamette Pinot, which is always an excellent choice. The server gave me a funny look. "How is it? Is that not the best choice?" I asked. He said, "well... it's a Willamette... but... you'll see." He brought our bottle, opened and poured it appropriately, and my whole body literally jerked at the first sip. "See..." the waiter said, and brought us a much better bottle, no questions asked. We spent a minute with the waiter discussing how a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir missed the mark, got stumped and ordered our dinner. Calamari appetizer.... I know what you're thinking. That's what the Clampetts would order at TGIFridays if they were fixin' for a nice supper. Wrongo. These were the largest calamari I've ever seen. The bodies were the size of my forefinger and middle finger combined. They were grilled perfectly. Excellent texture and taste. Even more impressive was the fact that they had the wherewithal to cook the bodies and the "tentacles" separately, since they cook at a different temp (if prepped together, one typically comes out overdone while the other is perfect... you get half a dish). So, the whole thing was perfect... the calamari was served on a bed of steamed spinach, a tomato based sauce with basil and something that tasted like a goat cheese paste... I can't remember. One way or the other, it was delish. Meals and sides come... My girlfriend had Trout and Lobster. The trout was superb, and the lobster was even better. Dipping this lobster in butter would have been a sin. It was perfect. I had the "Chef's Choice" or something like that. Chef Greg prepares a small portion of a bunch of different entrees. Again... incredible. a small sized piece of Breaded Perch (best fried fish I've ever had), a Mediterranean spare rib (ribs marinated in a lemon sauce... think "Greek Ribs"), 3 oz Filet Mignon, Chicken Breast with tzatziki sauce, a small lobster tail... I mean, come on. Beat that meal?! Impossible. The sides were spectacular as well. Grilled veggies (zucchini, peppers, good veggies) and mashed potatoes topped with mashed butternut squash, which was without a doubt the most impressive thing of the night. Butternut squash with some nutmeg, vanilla sugar, some secret ingredients and a dash of curry. Absolutely positively insanely good. The best thing about this place is the fact that it's small enough (prob holds 50 people) that the Chef can cook for everybody. It's Chef Greg and a sous chef. You will not find cut-rate jokers that can't cook a piece of meat consistently mucking up a good chef's menu at Medusas... no sir. I'm sick of typing. Loved it. Highly recommend.

We always love to go to Medusas when we head to Lake Geneva. Greg's special is the best. We like seeing the food being prepared on the tv by the bar. Do not miss this restaurant!

This is a "grill" that leans toward Greek (at least their interpretation). Chef Greg is there every night, cooking EVERY meal, and I really love places like that. Lake Geneva really doesn't have many decent restaurant choices, and in my opinion, this is the best the little town has to offer. The appetizers are fantastic and huge. I especially dig the gyros and the skordalia. When I order an entree, I always order the chef's choice surf and turf. It's a massive dose of whatever the chef is featuring that night--steak, shrimp, salmon, swordfish, and kebobs (those of you with lighter appetites could probably split it). It typically comes with marinated purple cabbage and some seriously buttered corn (seriously). I'd describe the ambiance as dim-lit, dark (walls), trendy, cozy (as in a 15-20 table joint). It doesn't fit Lake Geneva, and that's what's great about it if you've ever spent time there. Insider tip: Maybe show up at 5:00 before the crowds order a bunch of apps, some wine, and skip the entrees? That would save you some cash.

My girlfriend and I went here for what we thought was going to be an enjoyable New Year's Eve dinner. After reading some of the reviews we had pretty high expectations for a good meal - we were very disappointed. For a "high-end" restaurant, their appearance is anything but that. It's dark, and frankly, kind of dingy. The wait staff seemed OK but they definitely were not that informative about the food. They read off the specials and never mentioned a price. They didn't tell us that the meals came with sides so we were expecting nothing. They actually had 3 or 4 sides but it seemed like they just threw stuff together that was probably left over. The saganaki was the highlight of the meal. The wine was also good and reasonably priced, but the rest of the meal was sub-par. Sopra is a better option for a fancy meal if you're dining in Lake Geneva. We will not go back here.

Love Medusa. Jay is the best waiter and picks awesome wines. Had Veal Milanese with a side plate of delicious veggies. Lots of food so lunch tomorrow. Chocolate gelato to finish. Best in LG.

Medusa is a pretty restaurant and interesting menu. But do not send a dish back or complain about anything. The chef has an ego which is best explained by his statement,"music is loud and we like it that way." I had his lobster fettucini alfredo. Definitely overcooked. When i replied to waiter that it was not done correctly he whisked it away. never offered to replace it or apologize. Beyond that, he was obviously mad. His attitude was changed. They also did not adjust bill or offer anything else. Stay away.

A bit generous of a rating as my steak was just okay. Give points for service and ambience. Plus, other dinners were good and appetizers were delicious. But, if you are advertising hand cut steaks, well, we come from Chicago and our standards are high. NY Strip was chewy and needed some seasoning. Chef Greg, you can do better!
(4)Paul B.
Great food! Good flavor. Nice atmosphere. Overpriced, but still one of the best restaurants in Lake Geneva. I had the chefs special. Dinner partner had chicken and shrimp dish. Calamari appetizer was excellent and so was the sangria :)
(4)Larry B.
WAAAY too pricey for Greek food. Decent ambience but I think they fancy themselves trendy. Folks...this is Lake Geneva, not LA. Food is decent but not worth the price. Service is very spotty at best.
(1)Jim K.
My wife and I first ate here in 2006 when it was recommended by a local wine merchant. We found that first meal to be wonderful! Friendly staff, excellent food, and a nice atmosphere. We went back again this weekend (9/4/09). We again had a great meal with great service. Is it a little warm in there? Yeah... but so what? To the others that complained about the food, that has not been our experience in two visits. I had the ribeye and my wife had the lamb chops.. Both were terrific. Note that all of the all of the gelato is made on the premises by the chef.

Medusa's was the #1 restaurant on tripadvisor.com in the geneva area, so we tried it out. We ordered a greek salad at $13 to split between the 2 of us and it was the first in a series of let-downs. It was somewhat lacking in its variety of ingredients, there are many other places with better greek salads. There was only 1 anchovy in the entire thing. One of us ordered lobster and Mahi, which was a special they were having for $30. The Mahi was overcooked and the lobster was a tiny half-tail. I don't know if this truly is the best Lake Geneva has to offer... Wait service was spotty as well, making us wait quite some time for the check.
(2)maddie s.
OMG!!!! i cant not tell you all of the spectacular food there but my faves are the dolmates, chicken oraginatto, saganaki, and the greek salad! Chef Greg is a close friend of my mine and is always will be the best chef in town. The atomosphere is awsome and service is great! The truth is that you can pay the same amount there for a truley amazing meal, or at Mia Bella Bistro, for a truley crappy meal! what ever you do- go there! or else you are missing the greatest meal of your life!

I've been using Yelp for a long time but finally started an account just to write a review for Medusa's. This is our second year vacationing w/ our family in the area during our anniversary and after a relatively pedestrian dinner at Kirsh's last year, I asked a local I met at a golf outing a few months ago for a recommendation for this year. He basically said "there's Medusa's - and then there are some other OK places in case you can't get a reservation there." He was right. My wife and I both thought it was amazing. Everything we had was delicious. Started with the grilled calamari - you could taste the cherry wood smoke they use for grilling - and lucky us, it came with a dollop of skordalia, which was unreal delicious. After ordering the 18 oz NY strip special and my wife ordered the Veal Picante, we asked the server if we should split a bowl of the shrimp bisque. He recommended trying to squeeze it in and we're glad we did. Great bisque with a whole, grilled jumbo shrimp in the middle. I'm typically a ribeye guy, but the NY strip was the best I'd ever had. Cooked perfectly (medium rare) and again I could taste the cherry wood smoke they use for grilling. The Veal was great too. Something we noticed too was how great the sides were. Sides typically aren't going to be something I notice (though they can really detract from a meal - like the uncle ben's rice and boiled carrots and broccoli we had w/ our fish at the Public House the night before) - but they were so good here it was impossible not to. Some sort of sauteed medley of squash and peppers, garlic mashed potatoes and buttered corn. It was also cool that the waiter was also the photographer responsible for the art on the walls. Great dinner, great experience, can't wait to go back.

In all honesty, I put the last meal I had at Medusa just before Christmas in my top 3 meals of all time. We had a party of 8 and reserved the newly renovated back room and the food and atmosphere was amazing. Great lobster tails, risotto with mussels, grouper, pork and beef tenderloin - I could go on and on. Everything was amazing. The freshness of all of the ingredients and the attention to detail is what sets Medusa apart. Great for a special occasion or an intimate, casual dinner. Call for a reservation or pop in and and try to score a few seats at the Chef's counter. And don't forget the saganaki -- who can resist a flaming wedge of cheese - Opa!
(5)Donna C.
As a first time patron, of all the places I have been in LG, this was the best meal with charming service and delicious food. Worth every amount we paid and it was such a fun evening sitting by the bar. Everything was so good and it was a fun time as we watched things being cooked on the monitor above the bar. Fun saginaki, fresh beet salad and the prawns were so good. couple next to us had the Chefs platter. That is what I will try the next time.
(5)Joseph F.
I honestly can't believe that I am the first to give this place less than 5 stars. Perhaps I set my expectations a bit high, but to consider Medusa fine dining is like comparing a Mustang to a Ferrari. At first we were taken back by temperature inside, even with a wall air unit it was not very comfortable. I will say the saganaki was good, but really I have never had a bad one. The portions were way too big, the sides that were brought out (veggies and starches) were enough for two. We also found the food to be a bit greasy, and the same sauce was used on two dishes which was unnecessary. The service was okay, nothing special or memorable. All in all this was just an mediocre restaurant in a small town, the town folk love it and find it to be a welcome change to the usual bar fare served throughout the area. I found it to be disappointing after reading prior reviews.
(3)Lexie W.
Always good food... need reservations... had the shrimp bisque and lamb chop dinner... great service and atmosphere....worth the drive to Lake Geneva

Oh my Lord! This place is amazing! We read the reviews, and being from the area, had to try it for our anniversary dinner. We started out with the grilled Calamari, and it was the most amazing calamari I've ever had (& I've lived in Italy!) Main courses were the Ribeye with Lobster Tail and Lamb Chops- both served medium rare- and it was to die for. Seasonings were perfect, everything was done perfectly, Adam was a great waiter, I couldn't be any more pleased with anything. My husband had the Mediterranean Collins, which was so flavorful and refreshing! Also, we tried the corn which has been highly recommended by other reviews, and it was like candy! It was great, along with the button mushrooms!! Will absolutely be back!
(5)Christina L.
I will have to say this place is the best restaurant in town. Their ribeye was tender, juicy and tasty. Please get it. Did I mention their Halibut is amazing?! Corn is a must to get. They give you a bit too much though. But, whose gonna complain haha This appetizer .. I can't remember the name, but it had goat cheese and tomatoes. Greek food. It was fantastic! You will love it
(5)Seth M.
Absolutely solid. The sicilian filet is incredible. An absolute diamond in the rough, Medusa is top notch dining. Ps - the cabbage is unique. If you find it to strong mix with the buttermilk potatoes.
(5)Jacquelyn C.
Have been to Medusa's a few times now, my parents are regulars, whether you're a local or visiting Lake Geneva, definitely worth making a reservation. Service is fantastic as the staff is extremely personable and the food is terrific... have never been disappointed... And don't forget to save room for gelato (can also buy it by the pint...I mean why not?). Cheers!
(5)Kathleen C.
I was taken to Medusa for a surprise dinner and I loved it! The space is very small, but the atmosphere is great - very lively, but dark and comfy as well. Casual, yet upscale, and very friendly. We had a reservation - which is really a must- and were quickly seated in a great table with a view of almost all of the restaurant. We were greeted quickly and the specials were shared. I tried some wine (delicious) and tried to decide what to eat. There are seriously not bad options here - I wanted to try everything! I settled on the lobster and scallops, but I also luckily got a try of the chef's special (which is an amazing option - multiple meats and seafoods - or you can also pick either all meat or all seafood). Everything was amazing - fresh, flavorful and absolutely delicious. There was way too much food, but it was so good that I didn't want to stop eating it. The special salad was a burrata, brussel sprout, onion and tomato and was perhaps one of the best things I've eaten. I really enjoyed every minute of dinner. Service was really really friendly and we were never rushed at all though it was very busy. A bit expensive, but very high quality and portion sizes were large. Definitely worth a visit and I can't wait to go back! Food - 5 Service - 5 Atmosphere - 5 Value - 4 Bathrooms - 4
(5)Katherine A.
What can I say. This place is amazing. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you get inside it is well decorated and cozy. I tried the steak lobster and scallops and started with the Barratta and Brussels sprouts dishes. The Barratta and the brussels sprout appetizer was good individually but they really didn't go together. However the flavor of both with the cranberry chutney was amazing. For my entrée the steak lobster and scallops were all cooked beautifully. Everything on this dish was amazing even The spinach under the steak. They even had gelato that I was too full to try. Can't wait to go back and eat here again definitely a must do.
(5)Deron J.
Amazing!!! Meal was the best I've have this year!! Two guests commented on paper napkins and no linens on table- not an issue for me but an easy upgrade to make this the complete package. Great job Chef!!!
(5)Bruce W.
Excellent service and friendly atmosphere. The Greek Ribs were some of the best ribs I've had in a long time.
(4)Natalie N.
I am so happy to update this review.. The last time I reviewed, I honestly thought I wouldn't come back. We decided to give it another try since it's been a few years since our last visit. I admit my expectations were low and skepticism was high. We sat at the bar and the service was warm and attentive as always. We decided to go with the homemade sausage appetizer which was so flavorful and delicious. My husband was scraping the plate. For entrees we decided on the veal and the ribeye. The veal was outstanding.. The picante sauce is second to none and the veal was very tender. Husband's ribeye was perfectly cooked and the accompaniments on both plates were stellar. I will definitely say that Medusa's is back at the top of dining options in LG and surrounding areas. I will be gladly returning soon.

If the prospect of a great restaurant in Lake Geneva scares you, then Medusas will turn you to stone. This place has a Greek chef and there's a Greek flair to most everything. Don't expect any gyros though. The food is high brow and very good. A nice mix of seafood and meat. Vegetarians could have a pasta primavera and that's about it. If you're vegan, this is not the place for you. Our party of three ate rib eye (cooked perfectly at medium rare), shrimp kabobs, and scallops - also miraculously cooked perfectly. You know it's hard to cook large scallops well and this chef knows what he's doing. Outstanding. All of our meals came with curried cabbage and mashed potatoes. They offer vegetables for two a la carte, but we had Brussels sprouts and burrata as an appetizer. It was so good. We also had calamari as an appetizer. This calamari is grilled, in whole pieces, in a wood fired grill. It's served on a pomodoro sauce and has a lovely almond puree served on the plate. Bottom line - this is not your fast casual dining calamari. It was amazing. Service here was fantastic. Our server, Tori, was far from pretentious and was amazingly genuine. And, she makes a mean cocktail - a gift rarely found in most restaurants. We also enjoyed a bottle of Sardinian wine which is a bit off the beaten path. We liked that wine a lot and it was worth the leap of faith. One thing to be aware of at Medusas - the restaurant has a front section and back section called 'the lounge'. The front section, which was full when we arrived, had the decibel level of a jet engine. Modern looking and beautiful, but way too loud for any sort of conversation. We moved to the lounge and it was dark paneled and much more cozy. Completely where you'd take a date. I don't usually comment on the muzak, but they played classic rock from the 70s. I thought it odd, but my husband loved it. It's not distracting in the least, just sort of humorous. This place is pricey, but worth it. You should go.
(5)Melissa S.
Oh where to start. So much great food in one night. Steaks are to die for. I had the filet with Sicilian seasoning. Excellent pan crust char making it crispy on outside and juicy inside. Great wine list and cool choice of Greek inspired dishes. I love yo support local businesses and this one is so easy to tell all my friends about. It's where the locals go to enjoy a nite out. Don't miss it if you are in town for a fun getaway.
(5)Dave S.
Wow. Wow. Wow. That's three wows. We have eaten at Medusa several times over the years. Ate here last night and realized I've never reviewed it so buckle up and let's get to it. Small place off the main tourist strip so that's a plus. They have several specials on the board above the bar. Started with the Greek meatballs. Yum city! I had a Ribeye that was simply outstanding. Amazing char, check. Quality beef, check. Tasty dry rub, check. Also had shrooms and brocolini. Wifey had the equally tasty and perfectly cooked tenderloin. Throw is a very reasonably priced bottle of vino (cab franc) and you have the perfect dinner. They have a nice selection of home made gelatos that looked great but alas I am lo carb right now so that will have to wait. Service was very good and the pace of our meal was spot on. Highly recommend if you are here on Vacay. Simple cafe (also highly recommend) is also on this street. So bottom line is avoid the lakefront and head here for a memorable meal.
(5)K C.
Phenomenal food!! Great service!!! Love the white glove service! Jay our waiter was excellent. Everything we ate n drank, just perfect! Grilled calamari was fresh n the sauce was distinctive. Saganaki and bread yummy. My husband had the chefs selection which offered a crazy number of meat n seafood options. All were prepared well. Many of us had the lamb chops which were thick n grilled perfectly. The sides curry cabbage n smashed potatoes were nice. We loved the fresh corn side. The Bordeaux n Rose wines were nice selections as well. We really enjoyed Chef Greg's artistry and his music choices as well. What a great surprise of a restaurant!! We will return!
(5)Winson T.
I had the point nded pork chop, I feel like the chef maybe put in double the salt, it is super salty! The octopus salad that I ordered was too sour as well.
(2)Sarah C.
Absolutely amazing. Had the Surf and Turf and the Sicilian Filet, both were fantastic. Manhattan and Dirty Martini also great! Didn't expect to find a legit restaurant here but boy did we. Will definitely be back! Worth every penny!!
(5)Hank P.
Great place. Small, quant, and yet very exquisite. It might seem very pricey, but you get what you pay for. Great food worth every penny.
(5)Brian S.
Hands-down the best restaurant in Lake Geneva. Eat everything, ask your servers for recommendations, the fare shifts as do the seasons. We have a place on the lake and it's the only spot we rave about and want to send all our friends to when they visit the area. Service at the bar is fantastic, fun place to have date night. The Gelato is superb. The cabbage is delicious. The drinks are great. Just wish they stayed open late.
(5)Ray D.
Nice hidden Gem. Enjoyed the Saganaki, pounded pork with amazing capers and sauce. The Sicilian steak tasted good as well. For dessert we had Pistachio, Salt Carmel and Peach Gelato. I will be coming back and ordering the pork again for sure! Yum yum yum.
(5)Jim J.
This place enjoys some fabulous reviews but we were very disappointed on a Saturday night. The arrogant & inflexible service (never again!), inflated pricing, money-hungry feel of the place was our introduction. But we were cheered by the nice salad dressing, only to be further disappointed by the TINY salad. Saganaki was very salty & unpleasant. Veal picante appeared as a terribly salty vinegar & caper soup with grey slices on the bottom and an antidote-island of mashed potatoes, to make it edible. Wines were of no value. The bill was at least $35 too high. We were both ill, afterward. We'll never be back.
(2)Marianne D.
This is my third visit to Medusa. My husband and I enjoy this small, quiet restaurant with good food when we're in Lake Geneva. Our server, Riley, was friendly and attentive. We started with a generous portion of saganaki which we shared....opa! Then we both had the potato and spinach soup which was a bowl full of creamy, full of flavor goodness. My husband had the ribeye topped with garlic butter and served with garlic whipped potatoes and a spicy cabbage. The ribeye was grilled to perfection and to his liking, medium rare. I tasted the steak and it was so good! I had the grilled trout and lobster tail for dinner. My entrée was also served with the cabbage and garlic whipped potatoes. I don't like cabbage so I gave mine to my husband; he enjoyed the taste. My potatoes were more dense and thick than creamy but the taste was good. The trout and lobster tail were grilled perfectly and I enjoyed both. The lobster was amazing and the trout was flaky and moist. We ended the meal sharing Medusa's homemade pistachio gelato. Yum! I thoroughly enjoy this restaurant...the size is a plus as it's intimate and quiet. Make sure you make reservations, though, so you won't be disappointed and miss the opportunity to dine at Medusa.
(4)J. G.
Wonderful delicious drinks and food. Beet salad and sautéed mushrooms were terrific. The oreganata was fantastic. Service helpful but not pushy. Everyone should go there when in Lake Geneva. But don't forget the reservations. The tiny establishment is worth the trip and definitely worth every penny. Very high quality restaurant. Hats off to the chef/owner. Very well done indeed.
(5)Monica D.
I'm a scallops fan and theirs was absolutely delicious. The table ordered escargot , the calamari and both I was told were amazing. The chef even borrowed us his reading glasses!!! Taste is a very personal thing, and this restaurant delivered to mine!
(5)Kiki M.
I took my mom here for a Mother's Day weekend dinner on Saturday. She had the lamp chips special, which she said were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. My sister ordered the chicken oreganato and was also pleased with her dish. I personally tried their ny strip with a side of mushrooms and Brussels sprouts. Both sides were good, but I felt lacked some flavor. The steak itself was cooked as I asked and seasoned well. The gelato was delicious and I highly recommend the chocolate and pistachio!
(4)Bella V.
The place was stuffy and rude. When we told we were there for a light dinner they told us all the tables were reserved!!!! There were 8 of us they sure lost lots of business !!!
(1)Vicki H.
First time dining. We sat in the back lounge which was nice because much quieter than the front and gave us a chance to visit with the couple we were dining with. Started off with Saganaki -- yum. Three of us had the pasta primavera with grilled shrimp and one order of pork cutlet. All of our meals were excellent -- fresh vegetables and shrimped grilled perfectly. Pistachio gelato was perfect way to end dinner. Took an order of skordalia to go with veggies. Excellent skordalia -- next time a pint to go. What a wonderful night. Can't wait to go back.

My boyfriend brought me here during a small birthday vacation. Our expectations were set pretty high, considering the previous ratings and, typically speaking, pricing is indicative of the quality. I'll preface the review by stating, I do not eat seafood. I do not like it. That being said, I understand that the Medusa markets at least half, if not more, of it's faire is seafood. I won't reduce "stars" or overall experience because they specialize in something I don't like. However, the reason we went here, is because my boyfriend likes seafood and he saw that they supposedly had a fair amount of beef/chicken options as well. We came to, what appeared to be, the front door which just looks like the entrance of a run of the mill downtown diner. The signage is confusing, because apparently there is a Medusa bar on the other side of the building with a seperate entrance? The young hostess was well groomed and pleasant. The atmosphere? Not so much. There could be eight years of dust caked in every corner, but you can't tell because the walls are virtually black and the lighting was extremely dim. Which, may be for ambiance, but I've eaten at many reputable restaraunts with a similar "theme" or "vibe" and they didn't have it so dimly lit that you could barely see your food and/or the floors/walls/fixtures/etc. Anyway, we were seated immediately, as we had reservations. We were placed right by the door, in a really small two person bistro sized table. Which was SO uncomfortable for my bofriend. So I offered to wedge myself in the corner where the door literally hinged open and closed behind the back of my seat. I quickly surveyed the menu and the ONLY option on the menu that wasn't seafood as the main dish or riddled with seafood sides, was a beef fillet. I could have been "That" person to dissect the dish and ask for "this, but not that" and change the menu that the chef had created, but that is rude and you just don't change an artisan menu. I hate when people walk into a five star restaraunt and order the equivelant of chicken fingers. So I order the steak from our waiter. He was very nice and very knowledgable. I only gave this review three stars because of the staff. I ordered my steak medium, but stated it's ok if it's on the medium rare side. While we were waiting for our orders, a total of 15 people walked into the restaraunt... opening and closing the door on my back. They were apparently confused as to where the bar was and they didn't mind putting their touristy butts all up in our faces/table while the hostess explained where the bar entrance was. Not their fault... they had no where else to stand. This also happened with people that did not have reservations, there was no real area to wait, so some of them would just stand there, until I said "excuse me". Finally our food came and I cut into my $28 and some change steak... (yes, you read that right). It is WELL done. Anyone who loves steak, knows that this steak has been basically ruined. Its dry and brown throughout. My boyfriend told me to send it back, but I'm not going to make him eat his lobster alfredo cold after he waits for them to make a whole new steak. I ate it. The side vegetables and mash potatoes were good, but not worth the money we paid. We spent over $140 here. I could have eaten at Maggianos back home, similar meals with wine and tip for $65. The staff was very nice, like I said... but shoving a young couple in a dingy corner by a revolving door on a date night? Your menu is very narrow and somewhere my steak order got greatly miscommunicated. I've eaten at better restaraunts. These prices are out of control given the above. Compared to other restaraunts in Lake Geneva, sure... may be this is the best... but comparing to my overall dining experiences, I can barely given it the three stars I'm giving it. Sorry. Never. Going. Back.

I felt like Mom had made me a meal, if Mom had gone to culinary school and got straight A's. You will not leave hungry, but you will leave wanting more. Wow. What a gem. More in line with what you'd expect at a popular restaurant in a big city, but in a small lake town. The food is all off the charts. The staff is super friendly and very attentive. My wife and I shared: Skordalia - incredible and comes with tons of veggies and the best homemade pita I've ever had. Sicilian Filet - this is a crusted filet, yeah. Unreal. Lemon Oreganato Chicken and Shrimp - Juicy and delicious. Both main dishes came with fresh veggies and mashed potatoes. This is an absolute MUST if you go to Lake Geneva.
(5)Jeniffer D.
My husband and I have now spent our last 4 anniversary dinners at Medusa and we will continue this tradition forever! Hands down our favorite restaurant. We always get the Skordalia to start, lots of garlic but so tasty it's worth the bad breath. My husband got the mango gazpacho and I had the French quarter salad. The gazpacho explodes with flavor. It was bright and fresh with fresh berries and a dollop of sour cream on top, what's not delicious about that?! The salad had goat cheese, candied nuts and is honestly the best salad I've ever had, really. My husbands ribeye and my scallops were well prepared and yummy but the real stars of our main entrees were the curried cabbage, sautéed greens and mashed potatoes. The flavor combination is truly amazing. Thank you Chef Greg for another excellent meal. If you are reading this review, stop what your doing and drive to Lake Geneva right now and eat at Medusa's!

Life changing! Amazing! You MUST try this place! I devoured the meat chef's choice and loved every bite! If I weren't in public I would have licked the plate clean! My husband got the grilled salmon and lobster. He said it was the best salmon he had ever had. I would have to agree, I tried a bite and I loved it... And I don't even normally like salmon! One of the coolest things about this place is there is a tv broadcasting a live stream of the chef's cooking. It's like live Master Chef, and the best part is you get to eat what the talented chef is cooking up! Oh, did I mention the gelato?! To die for! I don't think I can ever eat regular chocolate ice cream ever again! That was the best chocolate gelato I have ever had. Also, our waiter was very sweet and accommodating. Since it was our first time there he explained everything well. I'm glad I took his recommendation and ordered the Chef's choice. I can't wait to go to Medusa's again!!!!

Amazing food - delightful staff (even owner/Chef Greg can be seen smiling and enjoying his staff) - cozy atmosphere. Food portions were perfect - just enough, we left completely satisfied. Our dinner really tasted like it was homemade - or even better! Fantastic restaurant - a little off the main drag in Lake Geneva (which I think is good). On a nice night - park close to the lake and walk up Broad to Medusa Grill and Bistro! Oh yeah - great dinner music, too!

Chef Greg is an amazing chef, he worked with me and my annoying no dairy/egg allergy which is hard to deal with when making steak and seafood, it almost always is a must to at least finish those with butter. Chef Greg had an 18oz NY strip hand cut on special last night and it was the best steak i've ever had and I've traveled throughout Texas, Oklahoma etc. It was a perfect medium throughout and the ability to keep it so perfect temp with varying thickness in the steak was just amazing. My wife had the salmon and grilled lobster and those were equally amazing. After a chat with the chef we were happy to hear he sources all of his product himself and the beef is free of antibiotics and all the other harmful crap we consume daily. It's nice to see a true chef in the Lake Geneva area. We will be going back for the Chef's Choice tonight for our last honeymoon dinner!! Oh and the homemade sorbet we got, peach, strawberry, melon, and orange were all just fantastic and only $6 for a pint!!!

Our second time here, and it is still our favorite place in Lake Geneva. We had the grilled calamari again - which was just as awesome as the last time we had it. They also had a special shrimp bisque, which was a very generous portion and made us almost want to lick the plate. The service was very good and attentive too! For the entree, we split the Lobster and Shrimp Alfredo. We couldn't get enough of it and how much seafood they really give you with it. The only thing is you should ask for light sauce, but that's more from a health standpoint - because the sauce is amazing. We love this place and will come back 100% next time we are in town.

My wife and I had a great meal here last night. The waiter was awesome and did a great job of keeping the meal moving along without being omnipresent. I was very impressed that they called and confirmed our reservations that afternoon and allowed us to make a minor change in the timing. The food was truly incredible! We had lamb and chicken for entre's and the saganaki for apps. Honestly there is so much cheese there that we could only eat half of it, plenty for a table of 4. Make sure to save room for the homemade Gelato as you will will not find any better. It is a small place and a bit loud, so may not be ideal if you are looking for a intimate setting. Highly recommend that you eat there when in Lake Geneva. We will definitely be back!

Wow. What a delight. Snuck away from the kids, who we sent to the strip. Found on Yelp and gave it a try. Mushroom Shrimp soup sublime. Beet Salad remarkable and tasty. Split the Chef Choice and he hooked us up!!! Salmon. Scallop. Lobster. Chicken. Pork. Steak. Smorgasbord of delightful bites that took us on an adventure to plump paradise. Will be a stalwart of supper for any future visits to Lake Geneva.

You guys...this is my 2nd review of Medusa, and honestly; its friggin' BETTER than the first time! We had a family dinner (booked via OpenTable, thank you very much!) to round out our lovely mini vacation in LG. 6 of us piled in at 7pm on a Friday night, and surprisingly the restaurant wasn't overwhelmingly packed like last time. We had the garlic dip with pita and veggies, and sausage with polenta for apps. So good. We ordered a range of items for our main courses; trout and lobster, mahi mahi, surf and turf, shrimp kabobs. Sides are shared, so we opted for the asparagus and mushrooms. Everything was just incredible. And for dessert, a few of us ordered gelato, cheesecake, and creme brûlée - all perfection. The service was good, the drinks and waters were always filled, and the waiter was lovely. I cannot say enough good things. GO EAT AT MEDUSA! Don't skip it just because it's not next to Popeye's!

Came here on the recommendation of a friend that has a summer home here and what a nice surprise! The atmosphere is upscale but not stuffy by any means, you feel right at home the moment you walk in the door. I love the screen above the bar that shows food being prepared live...very fun. (I sat right across from it and it was mesmerizing.) We started with "Grilled Calamari" and it was fantastic, in a sauce that I don't know how to describe but delicious. Sometimes with grilled calamari it gets chewy, not so here, it was light and easy to chew. I'd highly recommend it. For entrees we had the Greek pork chops, very tasty and she had the chicken and shrimp and loved it. The wine list is a little different in that it's all imported, no California wines for this Mediterranean restaurant. At first I was kinda bummed as we both like a pinot noir in the summer time. But we had a Beaujolais that was great. (it's good to get out of the comfort zone.) They have all types of gelatos for dessert but we were full from dinner. The portions are very generous. I don't want to forget the service, I wish I could remember the waiters name, he was great, friendly and helpful but not overbearing at all. It was one of my better dining experiences lately and a pleasant surprise in a touristy area.

The hubster and I finally made it to Lake Geneva; first restaurant recommendation was Medusas, great ambience, casual not stuffy. For appetizers we had the fried shrimp kabobs, delicious! Then we both ordered from their daily specials on their board that compliments their regular menu. We both had the lobster tail with steak, mashed potatoes and grilled mushrooms in garlic sauce, excellent is all I can say about Medusas. We will be coming back!
(4)Jerry S.
This is a small Mediterranean inspired restaurant a few blocks from Main Street with a menu centered around a wood-fired grill. We tried two of their appetizer specials: a baked Brie with shrimp and fried lamb meat balls -- both excellent. Entrees included a really tender and smokey rib-eye with garlic butter, grilled lobster with trout, lamb chops, and the surprise winner--very smokey lamb kebabs. We had a red Chinon which was quite good and not usually seen on wine lists. Good coordinated service. All in all, a really great meal that we found through Yelp!

For crying tears this place is unbelievable. Surf and turf to die for. Great smokey flavor. Lobster was perfect. I have a food high!

I have put this review off for a very long time because I really wanted to do it justice and to actually test how much I actually liked it. After some time, my opinion hasn't changed. I absolutely loved it! In a town that is desperate for good quality food and variety, this gem of a restaurant sits just off the main road. It is definitely worth getting away from the strip and coming here. It's small and romantic. It doesn't seat many people so make sure to make a reservation. I cannot stress enough how incredibly helpful and personable our server was. Not only did he look and sound like John C Reilly, but his name was Reilly. So that was pretty funny. The menu is limited and you aren't overwhelmed with too many options. The saganaki is always a great choice. It's a great show and great start to dinner. Reilly suggested we have the chef's choice. Of course, it is the more expensive option, but don't even start to question it! DO IT!!! The chef's choice is plenty for 2 people and worth every penny. The platter is a massive pile of almost everything on the menu! There is something special to say about the lobster. It's hard to find a place that will properly cook lobster. They will always over or under cook it, but Medusa does it just right. The lobster mixed with the scallops, chicken, steak, salmon, and pork is beautiful. Everything is cooked and seasoned beautifully. There was also a side of creamy garlic mashed potatoes, but the completely unexpected and stop you in your tracks contribution to this platter is the curried cabbage. I would go back and just order a plate of the cabbage! After every bite, I couldn't help but ask myself, "How can cabbage taste this good!?" I can't stress enough how great it is. Another really neat aspect of this place is that it has been run by the same guy for decades. You can see him in the kitchen from anywhere you sit. That takes a good amount of confidence and to top that, there is a TV above the bar, not obnoxious, but noticeable. It is a live feed of the range in the kitchen where you can see exactly what the chef is doing! Even more ballsy. Overall, this is a top notch place and worth every penny and effort to try.

If you want to go somewhere that is a total treat, this is it. A very nice touch is a tv that shows several of the oven burners. We have tried several items on the menu and the whole family is wowed by taste and appearance. Not an inexpensive place, but a place where the food is worthy of price. Make reservations, not a large restaurant.
(5)David B.
Yep, still amazing. Attentive staff, great drinks- gyro night on Thurs. Stop by- you won't be disappointed.
(5)Jason K.
Great food, great experience. We had Jay as our server, and he did a fantastic job. The hummus appetizer was especially good. I had steak, which was cooked over a wood stove, and my other half had the pork. The steak was good, but her pork was better. Glazed in some sort of honey mustard sauce that reminded me of those Honey Mustard and Onion Pretzels that I love so much. They both came with some tasty vegetable medley on the side, seasoned well with a bit of red pepper which heated it up just right. Their signature side of curried beats were also very delicious. There is a very cool feature where there is a live camera feed of the grill displayed for all. Neat place, but indeed on the pricey side.
(5)Scott W.
Had new years dinner here and found it was easily the best meal my wife and I have had in a long time. We both got the 8 oz filet minion. Everything about The meal was great, and not one thing was what I would call "traditional". The veggies were sautéed with a subtle spice/citrus combo. The potatoes were spot on and topped with a marinara, very tasty. But the steak was amazing. Seared with a crisp crust that reflected the citrus marinade and the you find the amazingly tender meat inside. Truly great meal. Oh, the creme brûlée for desert was equally amazing. We will be back.

Lake Geneva's best kept secret. We live in Chicago and have been coming to Lake Geneva for years and never realized Medusa's was upscale Greek/Italian (you wouldn't know it from the exterior). On a recommendation, we decided to try it out and it's now our favorite spot to eat out in town. The vibe is upscale but hip, not stuffy. Felt like a place you'd find in Manhattan. There is a live feed TV behind the bar that shows food being cooked. Service was great and every dish was amazing! Must try the grilled calamari appetizer, and the gelato is to die for. During our trips to Lake Geneva we cook at the house mostly, but now that we know about Medusa's I have a feeling we'll be going out more often. This place was beyond expectation, and is some of the best food we've had out and not just in Lake Geneva.
(5)Giuseppe T.
The locals have said it's hit or miss? I would have to disagree. The best place to eat in Lake Geneva.. compliments to chef Greg! The menu was Mediterranean, but mostly Greek options with many selections to choose from with the help of waiter Joel. I had the combination plate of meat & seafood that was grilled to perfection!
(5)Ross H.
By far the Best food in town! Chef Greg is amazing! The menu is so great! Treat yourself and try this place! The surf and turf is to die for! Great service and prices too!
(5)Cassie C.
This place is awesome! Food is AMAZING! I wish it were in Chicago so I could come here more often...and it would definitely be able to hold its own in Chicago. I've heard people say the food a little on the salty side, and while I would tend to agree, I still think it is all incredibly tasty (I love salt). The sicilian steak is unlike any other steak I've tried...super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside -- it almost looks like its completely dry on the outside. Been here probably a dozen times and I have never left disappointed.

It's unfortunate the experience we had at this place. Great location. Super cool atmosphere. But whoa did we feel discriminated against. A friend and I + baby went up to Lake Geneva on Friday eve 9/13/13 for work. We thought we'd stop in town for a quick bite. Checked out the menu on window and thought great. Quick bite to eat and hurry out. There were about 3 tables open and the full bar empty. The hostess mentioned the tables were awaiting reservations so she offered us the bar area. My friend wanted to place the baby on the floor and I refused to let her. I suggested we take a third bar stool and place the carrier between us. If you've been here you know how high the bar stools are from the ground. So as I suggest this, I notice the bartender give a dirty look. and I say "unless they have an issue with it". So we proceed to double check with the hostess and she says it's ok. Then the bartender breaks in and says they usually don't allow it. (Letting the baby carrier on the bar stool). My friend and I both look at eachother and tell him the hostess said it was ok. He then informs us, he's the manager and it's not. What do you think would have been a reasonable explanation. HMMM, maybe that it wasn't safe having the baby near the bar G-d forbid something fall on him. Nope, he states he's losing a seat for a potential bar customer. REALLY!!!!!!! I looked at my friend and said "you know what, let's go" I looked at the so called manager and stated how he's just discriminated against a mother with a child and if there's such an issue maybe he should have some highchairs available so that seats wouldn't have to be taken..

Amazing Greek Food with a Twist to Kick it up a Notch! Great atmosphere! Nice Decor! The appetizers and the entrees are all delicious!! The service was excellent and on point! This was my family's first time here but we will definitely be regulars here in the future! This place is better than the Greek Restaurants in Chicago's Greek Town!
(5)A C.
Only thing better than the food was the service. Awesome place you need to try! We had the calamari appetizer, lamb chops and the ribeye. Everything was excellent!
(5)Natalie R.
We ate here for the second time last night. Our first experience was better overall, but it still earned 4 stars. We asked the hostess to switch tables before we sat down because we didn't want to sit next to the door on a cold night and she replied with, "Umm...I guess." Umm...thanks? Besides her, both waiters we've had had been great. The food is American/Mediterranean. All the entrees came with sauteed veggies and mashed potatoes and change based on the season. Lots of nightly specials. Cool aspect was the TV that showed a live feed of the kitchen so you can actually watch some food being cooked! The place only has 12 tables and 10 bar seats, so make sure you have reservations, even during the off season. Last night my boyfriend and I both ordered the Sicilian filet cooked medium. His was perfect, mine was completely well-done. Like no pink. I was going to send it back...ugh but was lazy and decided not to. This is not a place for children, no highchairs. Adults only. Entrees are expensive. Expect at least $100 for a couple.

Excellent food, excellent service, and great atomsphere.

Delicious and based on the freshest food! My husband and I dined here last weekend. The restaurant is quite small so use OpenTable to book in advance. The service was friendly and our waiter did the perfect amount of checking back in. The food was divine- I had the scallops with mashed potato and sautéed vegetables. The mashed potatoes were unbelievably delicious, every single vegetable in the mixed vegetable sauté was cooked perfectly- none too crisp, none too soft and all very fresh tasting with delicate seasonings. The scallops were gigantic and perfectly seared/cooked. My husband had the salmon and lobster, which he loved. I had read the reviews advising not to skip the gelato so we heeded the advice. So glad we did. The chocolate gelato is TO DIE FOR! Mint chip was good, but chocolate the winner. The atmosphere was stylish/trendy. My only complaint is that this restaurant is too far from my home to go more often : )

I took my wife out last night for date night and we didn't feel like driving to MKE so we headed south to Lake Geneva and I'm glad we did. We took a friends advice and settled on Medusa and it was a treat. From the Apps to the main dishes everything was wonderful. Fresh ingredients, seasoning +++, meat was cooked to the right temperature. Staff was great also. It was a team approach. I recommend the wood fired steaks and the homemade gelato was great. The wife's creme brulee was amazing also. We will be coming back!

Wonderful - start to finish!

Travelling through Lake G and fell into this gem! Every bit delicious - the people really nice (Jay at the bar is informative and attentive), the food, OH the food ! Ordered salmon and lobster which were cooked perfectly (even for a seafood snob from NYC). The vegetables were hauntingly wonderful. Mash potatoes were unreal. Really I don't "review" many places - this place is a new destination for me. Please, please spread the word. I want Medusa to be around for a long time.

Medusa is a welcomed surprise for Chitown foodies on a weekend getaway to the area. Note: be sure to make reservations on opentable, as the reservations fill up and the bar seating is very limited. We made a day of reservation for a 5:30pm seating on a Saturday otherwise we could not be seated till 8:30pm. We were seated in the front of there restaurant. The area is small and lowly lit, so great for a romantic evening. Our server, Joel, took excellent care of us and made some fabulous recommendations. The chef is inspired by modern Mediterranean style food. So off course we started with the flaming saganaki. It was excellent on their on site baked bread. For the main, the BF had the veal medallions with mash potatoes and to his surprise very tasty curry cabbage. The veggie guest had the pasta with assorted mushrooms and truffle oil. It was excellent and large enough in portion to share or take home. We actually watched the chef prepare our meal on a live feed screen over the bar. We were so full that we could not partake of their gelato. Medusa was a lovely way to end a day of relaxation on the lake. Chitown Veg Gal

Any time I'm coming to Lake Geneva I'm told, "you have to go to Popeyes". I've been to Popeyes and its fine, this is fantastic though! I had the Chef's Choice and chose the meat and seafood option. It featured salmon, steak, chicken, sausage, and lobster along with fresh corn, whipped potatoes, mixed vegetables. All had amazing flavors and I was stuffed. Girlfriend had a pasta dish which was full of flavor and main ingredients not just a strip of chicken and a ton of pasta. Great food, well worth the price. Go here once, don't expect Applebee's prices, do expect to return.

Loved the food. So different from other places. Came in a couple weeks ago. Server was Joel and made awsome reccomendations! Chicago style service!!! Whenever I make my way to Lake Geneva again I will def be back.
(5)Erik A.
This place exceeds expectations, the food and the service (John was our waiter) was exceptional! At first we were skeptical based on the reviews (because we always go to Sopra when in Lake Geneva but are disappointed with the service there) and ended really enjoying ourselves at Medusa. Definitely check it out if you go especially the beef scallop appetizer!
(5)betty b.
Loved the vibe at Medusa... a funky mix of fancy & comfy. Service was efficient but friendly. Cocktail and meal portions generous. Great saganaki too.
(5)Jane M.
What an excellent choice! Food was outstanding... So fresh... So delicious... Wait staff very good... So glad to have found such a great place to eat!
(5)Monica D.
Stopped in on a Friday night for apps and drinks. We were sat right away at the bar and had an amazing experience. Our server, Jay, was super friendly and very knowledgeable, he made us feel very welcome. We ordered the grilled calamari & beef kebabs. They were both out of this world. Best calamari I have EVER had. Will return every night we visit Lake Geneva.
(5)David M.
okay.....here'syet another update on the return of Medusa to their original setting and idea...up front at 501 Broad with loud music, friendly knowledgable staff and WONDERFUL food.... The wine list is still decent (not too long or pretentious...) and they also have a good / short beer list (no drafts and a little lite on the ales...all lagers) but a good variety. But that is not as important as the food. Chef Greg...he's the crazy guy in the back bouncing around with the bandana...is superb...and back in the groove... The menu is pretty unchanged overall from the old days....still a great variety of appetizers, salads and, the highlight to us, the entrees...I had the lamb chops...wonderful wonderful...and the better half had the trout and lobster special...also excellent. They had added the veggies back on the entrees..after a short experiment on 'extra' sides...and they are also wonderful....veggies are actually as good as the 'main course'....cooked just right and in just the right amount a hint...stay away from the pasta...not his strength...stay with real food...meat and fish...never been disappointed there bottom line...great spot...back where they belong ... upfront on Broad..we will be back
(5)Scott K.
Mmmmmm. Nice and salty!! The vegetable side of mashed potatoes with a corn crater was clever, but it was bland and really more Cracker Barrel than fine dining.
(3)Christopher B.
This would be a five star restaurant if it were solely based on the food. Chef Greg is a magician in the kitchen but the lack of knowledgeable waitstaff and the overall attitude of employess is the restaurants downfall. Try the veal!
(3)Brian T.
The steak, the lobster and the salmon were perfect. Loved the atmosphere. A winner!
(5)Irish M.
Been in twice. First time food came out so rapidly we had no time to relax and enjoy the company. $200 table flip of four. Next time was 2 of us at the bar ordering and the food came out on two earlier plated plates. Underwhelmed again.
(1)Joe T.
Food was decent but service needs a bit of help...so to speak. Was there last Saturday and they seemed understaffed. The hostess station needs some experience in the position as well. Prices,well...Seemed a bit high. Overall not bad but will be awhile before I go back... JT
(3)Kris F.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here because we wanted something special. Chef Greg did not disappoint!!! The Greek pork chop was AMAZING and we will return often!
(5)Shelley M.
So I play this game in my head from time to time where I pick out what I would want serveed to me for my last meal on earth (ok, so sometimes it's macabre and it's the "death row meal", but you get the idea) Frankly, I would have my last meal from Medusa. It's that good. I have been here more times than I can count, and I've also been here since they flipped the space and put the restaurant in the back. The food is still to die for. My mouth is watering thinking about it, and I'm writing this from CA, so sucks to be me. I almost always have the grilled calamari, but I have either ordered or tasted everything on the menu, from apps to soups to salads and entrees. Order the saganaki- flaming cheese in WI goes hand in hand. Don't forget the wine menu, becasue it's big, awesome and Greek based. Get some gelato for dessert- I receommend anything in the melons family if they have it TO DIE FOR. Literally. Because that's how I play my little game in my head! :)
(5)Anna B.
Made reservations around 5 on a Saturday evening, so we were hoping for the best considering this was so last minute. The only spot that was available was 8:45pm (they close at 9). I was worried that we might feel rushed since our meal was so late but not at all! We arrived a little early (8:30) and were promptly seated. Our waiter was extremely accommodating. I ordered the Caesar salad and salmon and lobster plate. It was delicious! I don't normally rave about a salad, but this one was brilliant. The salmon and lobster were done to perfection. My boyfriend had the chefs special and was also raving about how good it was. The prices here I believe are fair considering the high quality of the food. We will definitely be back for more!!
